I am a primary care physician, which means that I do carry and administer vaccines in my practice. Vaccines are required for daycares and public schools in the state of Montana, where I practice. In my office I give these shots myself, which means I see exactly how kids respond to each vaccination.
Why? Because I carry certain vaccines that are preservative-free, or because their child had a vaccine side effect and needs additional monitoring for future vaccines. Some parents travel that far just because they want to have an honest, open discussion about vaccines, and that makes them feel better about getting shots in my office.
When I say I get it, I mean it. When Annika was born I had the same questions about vaccines that many of you have. In fact, answering my own questions about vaccines is what inspired me to start having these open, honest conversations with families. Asking and answering these questions is what led to my first in-person Vaccines Demystified class back in 2013, and my first seventy (or so) hours of vaccine research. Three hundred hours and eight years later I am still asking and answering more and more of these questions.
I am also the founder and owner of Montana Whole Health, a full service naturopathic center that serves infants through adults. I specialize in Pediatrics, Infertility and Postpartum Women’s Health.
I have been a keynote speaker for the California Association of Naturopathic Physicians on the topic of pediatric constipation. I have also been a featured speaker for the Missoula Businesswomen’s association, InterChange Summit (panelist on the subject of vaccines). The course is 4 hours in length with 1 hour in bonus material. Each lesson runs 5 minutes to 30 minutes in duration. You can start, stop and finish each lesson at your pace. Watch it all at once or in sections.
Many parents of young babies watch the sections on Hepatitis B, Rotavirus, DTaP, Polio, PCV, and Hib first, then watch the sections on MMR, Varicella and Hepatitis A later as their child reaches the age where they are eligible for those vaccines (12+ months).
About 50% of our course takers are parents or caregivers.
The other 50% are healthcare providers who want more information to assist their patients in answering the very difficult questions about childhood vaccinations.
You can ask questions under any lesson. Usually Dr. Erika responds directly. Sometimes she records whole new lessons based on the question.
